EVERY ROLEX TELLS A STORY
Rolex receives letters from watch owners throughout the world. For many, a Rolex is not just a watch, but is a companion or even an old friend. Here is a small selection of letters received by Rolex from satisfied customers.
3 Wives and a Rolex
"It has been one of the joys of my life. It has seen me through three wives, one war, many jobs, my retirement, my career in the Navy and the Government, and now into the Department of State. The watch is almost a talisman, a good luck piece. One would think it was something alive, and sometimes, when anything could go wrong, the Rolex was always there to assure me that with the passage of time, things would go better.
I was flying a mission over North Vietnam in an A6A all-weather attack aircraft when anti-aircraft fire tore the entire right wing off the aircraft. The force of ejecting through the canopy shattered my helmet, tore off my gloves and removed skin from my arms, head and back. After an hour on the ground, a helicopter picked me up. My Rolex made it all the way, and I still depend on it.
Not too proud about this postscript, but last August during take-off in a farm field, I ducked under some power lines and hit an irrigation canal, flipped over and destroyed the aircraft: my Rolex and I walked away." Peter M. Busch
Wash and Wear
"My ten-year-old Oyster was inadvertently placed in the washing machine recently and was duly prewashed, washed at 90 degrees, rinsed, spun and tumbled dry. It emerged sparkling clean and of course still performing as well as ever. So, in future, when I see ads I shall be able to say, ah yes, but mine survived the washing machine! Many thanks for a truly magnificent timepiece in these days of disposable rubbish sold as quality." Mr. A.N.C. French
