Guide to Wedding Planning

As a newly engaged bride to be, I know first hand the stress and anxiety that comes from wedding planning. As soon as you get engaged the wedding questions are immediate. You are pressured to start planning and pick a date right away. The thing about wedding planning is, it’s overwhelming. You have to think and plan for a million things. When it comes to venues, dresses and photographers these things you need time to plan for.

Starting with wedding dresses, the timeline on a dress has changed dramatically over the years. For instance, it now can take anywhere from 6-12 months for your dress to arrive and another 6-8 weeks for alterations. It is important to keep this in mind when thinking of planning.

Recently I went dress shopping for the first time. I think every new bride should go try on as many dresses as they can at various bridal stores. The silhouettes on Pinterest you loved is not always going to be the dress for you.

Websites like the Knot and Wedding Wire are very useful in finding local vendors. The user can put in preferences, budget, guest count, additional accommodations and much more. From there, the user is able to reach out to all of the vendors with a click of the button. From experience, most will responded right away with their quotes and possible wedding dates.

When planning your wedding the first thing to start is knowing what your budget looks like, making sure you have enough time to plan for a venue, dress and vendors. And take it from there.
