‘The Heart of Oklahoma’ diamond set in a Harry Kotlar masterpiece

BC-Clark_The-Heart-of-Oklahoma_Harry-Kotlar_diamond-ring-1024x576-1

Finding a diamond like The Heart of Oklahoma is a once-in-a-generation experience. Extremely rare. 18.92 carats. Internally-Flawless. Fancy Intense Yellow. Valued at $1.2 million.

A diamond of this magnitude demands an extraordinary setting.

We joined forces with jewelry design house Harry Kotlar to design and craft the handmade masterpiece that would cradle the diamond. Kotlar, a legacy company with more than 70 years in the industry, was the logical partner because they understood from the start that this is more than a diamond to us. But more importantly, Harry Kotlar is among the most highly-regarded artisans in the industry, combining relevant design with old-world craftsmanship.

We selected a ring design reminiscent of the industrial revolution steam locomotive’s pilot grills with the use of tapered baguette diamonds. These are railroads, midwestern industrialism, art nouveau and tribal influences which are represented through using straight and curved lines as well as geometric shapes by the use of step cuts and special cut stones. The design team at Harry Kotlar went through great lengths to utilize historical aspects dear to BC Clark’s and Oklahoma’s legacy.

Kotlar also designed the setting for The Heart of Oklahoma’s sister diamond, ‘The Sol Diamond’ – a 5.01-carat diamond cut from the same rough.
We are very proud of this collaboration.

Seeing the finished design is truly a rewarding experience after this seven-year journey. In 2013, we set out to find a diamond worthy of honoring the BC Clark legacy and our home state. After searching the globe, we discovered this once-in-a-lifetime diamond. Cut from a 38.05-carat rough diamond that was mined off-shore Namibia, Africa, it was polished to perfection to a very specific carat-weight: 18.92 carats to honor BC Clark’s founding year–1892.

‘The Heart of Oklahoma’ diamond is back in Oklahoma City after being set into the ring at Harry Kotlar’s home base in California, and a short trip to Nashville, TN, where Carrie Underwood wore it at the 53rd CMA awards. The ring will be on display at our Downtown store on Friday, Nov. 15, and at our Penn Square Mall location on Saturday, Nov. 16, during regular store hours.
