We're thrilled to introduce the Grand Seiko collection, now available at BC Clark Northpark. For decades, Grand Seiko has represented the pinnacle of Japanese watchmaking, renowned for its meticulous craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless elegance. Crafted with precision and designed for connoisseurs, Grand Seiko watches combine modern technology with traditional Japanese artistry, offering a unique appeal that transcends trends.
Grand Seiko's journey began in 1960, with the ambitious goal of creating the “ideal” watch. Since then, they've refined and perfected their timepieces through groundbreaking innovations such as the revolutionary Spring Drive technology, which provides unparalleled accuracy and a smooth, gliding second hand, embodying the serene beauty of Japanese design. Released in 1967, 44GS had the highest level of accuracy of any manually wound 5 beat watch in the world. In just a few short years, Grand Seiko had made extraordinary strides towards its goal. The design of 44GS included many aspects that have been passed on to today's Grand Seiko watches.
44GS established the look that Grand Seiko has continued to this day. It was a complex design idea, with rules about proportion, finish, angles and every other design aspect and became known as the Grand Seiko Style. Indeed, there were three basic principles and no fewer than nine elements required to achieve them. No other watch has had such an influence on the character of Grand Seiko and all subsequent Grand Seiko models have share the same unique brilliance and charm as 44GS because they have all expressed the Grand Seiko Style.

Innovation and ingenuity. The materials that make the Grand Seiko difference
In its selection of materials and in the innovation with which new materials are created, Grand Seiko's consistent focus is on creating metals, alloys and crystals that further the Grand Seiko aims of precision, beauty and ease of use. This focus applies equally to the cases made of stainless steel, titanium and precious metal and to the materials and technologies used in the movements.
The brilliant steel: the world's most corrosion RESISTANT steel
Known as Ever-Brilliant Steel, thanks to its brilliant white hue, this steel is more corrosion resistant than that which is used in even the most prestigious watches today.
In house crystal manufacturing
By growing its own crystals in-house, Grand Seiko is able to create quartz movements with unrivalled performance. Each crystal is carefully selected and aged and its individual characteristics are programmed into each Caliber 9F watch’s IC to ensure stable, high precision over time.
Brilliant Hard Titanium
This material is exclusive to Grand Seiko. It is as light as pure titanium but twice as hard as stainless steel and therefore highly resistant to scratches. Its color is brighter than the other forms of titanium used for Grand Seiko and allows the Zaratsu polished surfaces to stand out even more prominently.
Spron: the alloys that deliver exceptional performance in main and balance springs.
Since the 1950’s the company had been developing its own alloys for use in its watches’ springs and new generations of Spron alloys have followed one upon another, each delivering higher and higher levels performance. In particular, the long power reserve, precision and slimness of the hi-beat Caliber 9S movement depend critically on the two new SPRON alloys that were created expressly for it.
Each Grand Seiko watch showcases the signature Zaratsu polishing technique, an art form that achieves distortion-free reflections, creating a stunning interplay of light and shadow on the case. The result is a watch that’s as much a work of art as it is a timekeeping marvel.
