We are thrilled to celebrate our very own Estelle Stout (formerly Clark), daughter of Coleman Clark, on her incredible achievement! Estelle has recently graduated from the esteemed GIA Graduate Gemologist® (GG) program in Carlsbad, California, successfully passing her rigorous 20-stone exam on her first attempt. This milestone marks her as a distinguished gemology expert, showcasing her dedication and expertise in the world of fine jewelry.
The Graduate Gemologist diploma is recognized as one of the most prestigious credentials in the industry, offering an extensive education in diamonds and colored stones. Through the program, students gain hands-on experience using state-of-the-art gemological equipment, learning to identify and grade diamonds and gemstones with accuracy and consistency. Estelle's training included mastering the GIA International Diamond Grading System™ and the 4Cs (color, clarity, cut, and carat weight), grading diamonds within the D-to-Z color range, and developing a deep understanding of the colored stone market.
Her journey through the program also involved intensive lab work, where she learned to identify over 60 species of gemstones, distinguish between natural and laboratory-grown stones, and detect gem treatments. She also gained expertise in the factors that influence gemstone value, from mining and sourcing to market trends and rarity. With her Graduate Gemologist diploma in hand, Estelle is now equipped for an exciting future in the industry, with career paths ranging from diamond grading and appraising to estate jewelry dealing and auction house expertise.
